Size Guide

Cut varies far more than bodies do, so the most reliable way to buy online is to measure a garment you already own and like, and match it to the numbers below.

How to measure a garment, not a body. Lay the item flat, do not stretch it, and measure in a straight line from seam to seam. Chest and hip are measured across and then doubled. Sleeve runs from the shoulder seam to the cuff. Inseam runs from the crotch seam to the hem.

Age is a rough guide only. Height is the more useful number for children’s sizing.

Between two sizes?

  • Knitwear, hoodies and outerwear: size up. These are meant to sit over another layer.
  • Tailored shirting and blazers: size down if you want a close fit, up if you plan to wear a layer underneath.
  • Denim with elastane in the fabric: take the smaller size – it relaxes by roughly half a size after a few hours of wear.
  • Rigid denim with no stretch: take the larger size.
  • Jersey dresses and t-shirts: true to size.

Brand-specific charts

Because we resell rather than manufacture, the exact garment you are looking at was cut to its own brand’s block. The Specifications tab on every product page names the brand and part number. Where that is a mill we buy blanks from, you can check its own published chart for a second opinion – and if the two disagree, trust the mill’s. Factory-direct goods are cut to the standard US block described above.

Got it wrong anyway?

A size that does not fit is a change-of-mind return: you pay the return postage, there is no restocking fee, and the item price plus the duty on it is refunded. Details on the Return & Refund Policy page, or email support@bgalz.com before you order and we will measure the garment for you.
